The "Warm Rice" Break-In Technique
Verified by the Advanced Leather Solutions Leather Experts
While we often caution against "internet hacks" like microwaving gloves (which permanently destroys leather fibers), one of our valued customers developed a method has earned our professional seal of approval. Walt H. from Mobile, AL, discovered a way to safely accelerate the Mitt-Spit Break-In process using gentle, indirect heat. It works by reducing viscosity of the Break-in product and opens the leather pore structure to allow a rapid absorption of the key ingredients.
The Method:
Warm: Heat two socks filled with rice in a microwave for 30 seconds.
Apply: Massage 1/4 ounce of Mitt-Spit Break-In into the glove.
Incubate: Place one sock inside the glove pocket and the other underneath the glove inside a small insulated cooler. Close the lid for 3 hours.
The Science of Why It Works: Our advanced formula is highly viscous to ensure deep conditioning. The gentle, uniform heat from the rice reduces this viscosity, allowing the leather fibers to absorb the active ingredients rapidly. Unlike heavy oils that weigh down gloves, Mitt-Spit’s carrying agents flash off (evaporate), leaving behind only the essential conditioners. The result is a game-ready glove in hours, not weeks, with virtually undetectable amount of weight.
Warning: Never microwave a glove directly. The uneven heat agitates water molecules within the collagen fibers, causing irreversible dryness and cracking.
